Cleugbrae countryside

About the area,

Fast becoming a DARK SKIES, (www.forestry.gov.uk/darkskygalloway), hotspot, we recently had "astronomy writer  Will Gater" staying at the cottage, and his comments were:-"Stunning dark skies from the cottage. Wonderful views of the night sky to the west and south particularly.  And the proximity to the heart of the Forest Park is ideal for those wanting to explore the various other IDA stargazing sites." March

"Beautiful comfortable cottage in a lovely setting. Thank you for you hospitality. Great holiday!"!Anne and Jane Sipmson, Edinburgh.

"Absolutely fantastic, can't wait to come back, thank you so much for a fabulous week."  The Hickman Family, Warrington.

Four miles from St. Johns Town of Dalry, Cleughbrae Cottage is a must for the outdoor enthusiast. The Southern Upland Way is literally 'on the doorstep' and cyclists, birdwatchers or keen anglers are all catered for. If a quiet break in idyllic surroundings is what you prefer, you certainly will not be disappointed. Other local outdoor activities include sailing on nearby Loch Ken and golf at the picturesque 9 hole course at New Galloway.

The charming market town of Castle Douglas is 18 miles to the south of Glenhowl and has many lovely boutiques and gift shops that are worth a visit.

Cleughbrae Cottage is also ideally situated for day trips to the Artists' Town of Kirkcudbright, Ayr or the region's capital, Dumfries.

"Cottage is fantasic. Very welcoming and homely. Would highly recommend and will definately be returning.  Loved our stay.  Mr & Mrs Higgins & Family, and Mr & Mrs Straiton and family.

Visit mysterious castles and fascinating museums one day and enjoy mountain biking through forests the next. Dumfries & Galloway has so much to offer from art galleries, nature reserves and glorious gardens to Scotland’s only Food Town in Castle Douglas.
